Major Tournaments

Major tournaments include Club Championship, Ace of the Year, and the Handicap Tournament. Those not playing in the tournaments will tee off following the tournament players.

Club Championship

The Club Championship is open to all DWGC members who are current and meet the requirements for participation in a major tournament. This tournament is a two day event played on two consecutive Wednesdays. Club Champion is awarded to the player with the lowest combined gross score. The Club Champion receives a major portion of the purse and a medallion. The remainder of the purse is awarded to the top 3-4 players in each flight.

Ace of the Year

The Ace of the Year tournament is held each November and is open to the players who have won Ace of the Month. Aces of the Month then play to determine the Aces of the Year. The low gross and low net winners of the tournament are awarded Ace of the Year. Ace of the Month winners are determined by the lowest gross and lowest net score for each month, November through October.

Handicap Tournament

The Handicap Tournament is our annual two day tournament held on two consecutive Wednesdays. The tournament is open to all DWGC members who are current and meet the requirements for participation in a major tournament, however, the field is limited to 24 players.

Minor Tournaments

The bulk of DWGC’s play days are regular play days with the sweeps purse awarded to the top low gross winners in each flight. In addition to regular play, other fun games are scheduled throughout the year. Blind Nine, Bingo-Bango-Bongo and No Alibi are examples of the types of games played. Winners are awarded in each flight. Guests are welcome to play on regular play days, and fun days, but are not eligible to participate in sweeps.

Optional Club Participation

Twofer Club

Members receive $2 from other members in their playing group anytime they score a 2 on a hole. Of course, they give $2 to any member who receives a 2 on a hole within their group. Become a member when you choose to pay your first $2 to a member of your group who scores a 2 on a hole. Report new members to the Tournament Chair at the end of play.

Hole-In-One

DWGC members pay $3 into the “HIO” bank. Any member that shoots a hole-in-one on a Wednesday play day or tournament wins the money in the “HIO” bank to pay for drinks for the DWGC golfers that play that day. The bank is replenished after each HIO payout.

Eclectic Scoring

Winter/Spring EC runs from December through May.  Summer/Fall EC runs from June through November. Best score for each hole over the months determines overall best EC score.  Top four EC winners are awarded in each flight.
